Faculty Member, History and Humanities
Lecturer in C19th History
About
My research is primarily concerned with the relationship between elite education and social mobility in nineteenth-century Ireland, Britain and Europe.
My approach to the study of history is interdisciplinary and incorporates perspectives drawn primarily from social theory, historical sociology, political science and literary theory. I am interested in the transnational and comparative study of education and social stratification, especially in its application across northern and central European states.
I am currently working on extending a prosopographical analysis of Irish Catholic boys educated across a network of elite schools in Ireland, Britain and France.
