About

I have lived and worked in Austria, Hungary, Belgium, Canada, Ireland and Bosnia-Hercegovina.

I am currently a faculty member of Trinity College Dublin and Director of Research at its School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies (SLLCS).

My research interests lie in 19th- and 20th-century German and Austrian literature and culture, in Central European Studies, in cultural and literary theory, and particularly, in cultural constructions of Otherness (e.g. vampires, monstrosity, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, etc.).

I am currently working on a 'postcolonial' monograph on constructions of Otherness in Austrian culture vis-à-vis Bosnia-Hercegovina, 1878-1918, and on a literary history of vampirism in the German-spekaing world from the 18th century to nowadays.

Other fields of interest are canon, cultural economy and imagology.

Apart from this, I also work as a book reviewer, political commentator and blogger for newspapers, and as a literary translator and author/publicist.
